Frequently asked questions
What is Report Securely?
Report Securely is a secure digital whistleblowing and feedback service that enables organisations to receive anonymous reports in compliance with the EU Whistleblowing Directive 2019/1937. It is designed for law firms to offer to their clients as a compliant reporting channel.
How does anonymous reporting work?
Reporters can submit reports without revealing their identity. All communication happens through an encrypted channel. The reporter receives a unique code to follow up on their report and communicate with the case handler, all while remaining anonymous.
Is Report Securely compliant with the EU Whistleblowing Directive?
Yes. Report Securely is fully compliant with EU Directive 2019/1937 on the protection of persons who report breaches of Union law. The platform meets all requirements for secure, confidential reporting channels as mandated by the directive.
How long is the free trial?
We offer a 3-month free trial with full access to all features. No credit card is required to start. After the trial, you can choose a plan that fits your organisation's needs.
What languages does Report Securely support?
Report Securely supports 30 European languages, making it accessible for organisations operating across Europe. The reporting interface, case management dashboard, and all communications are available in the reporter's preferred language.
How is my data protected?
All data is encrypted end-to-end and stored in secure European data centres. We are fully GDPR compliant and follow industry best practices for data security. Your data is never shared with third parties.
Can law firms offer this to their clients?
Absolutely. Report Securely is specifically designed for law firms to sell to or operate on behalf of their clients. Law firms can provide a compliant whistleblowing channel as part of their advisory services, with custom branding and dedicated case management.
What is the difference between whistleblowing and feedback reports?
Report Securely supports two distinct report types. Whistleblowing reports involve potential breaches of law or serious misconduct and are routed to the organisation's designated external handler — typically the partner law firm. Feedback reports cover general workplace concerns such as employee satisfaction or process improvements and stay internal with the organisation's own case handlers. This separation ensures that legally sensitive reports receive independent, qualified handling.
Which organisations are required to have a whistleblowing channel?
Under EU Directive 2019/1937, all private-sector organisations with 50 or more employees must operate an internal reporting channel. All public-sector entities are also covered, regardless of size — though member states may exempt municipalities with fewer than 10,000 inhabitants. National transpositions may set stricter thresholds. The deadline for organisations with 50–249 employees was 17 December 2023.
What types of misconduct can be reported?
The EU Whistleblowing Directive covers breaches of Union law in eleven areas defined in Annex Part I, including: public procurement, financial services, product safety, transport safety, environmental protection, food and feed safety, public health, consumer protection, data protection and privacy, anti-money laundering, and nuclear safety. Member states may extend this scope to cover additional areas such as national labour law.
How does the AI text rephrasing tool work?
Report Securely includes an AI-powered text rephrasing feature designed for stylometric anonymisation. When a reporter submits a report, the system can rephrase the text to alter writing-style patterns — such as sentence structure, word choice, and phrasing habits — that might otherwise identify the author. This is particularly important in smaller organisations where managers may recognise an employee's writing style. The original text is discarded after rephrasing.
Where is Report Securely's data stored?
All data is stored exclusively within the European Economic Area (EEA). Report Securely does not transfer personal data outside the EEA. Infrastructure is hosted in secure European data centres with enterprise-grade physical and logical security controls. This ensures compliance with GDPR data residency requirements and the data localisation preferences of European organisations.
How much does Report Securely cost?
Report Securely costs €99 per month after a 90-day free trial. The price includes all features: anonymous reporting, case management, AI text rephrasing, 28 languages, custom branding, and unlimited reports. Law firms using the partner program have separate pricing — sign up for a free partner account to see partner rates.
How quickly can we set up Report Securely?
Most organisations are up and running within minutes. You create an account, configure your reporting categories and case handlers, and share the reporting link with your employees. There is no software to install — Report Securely is a cloud-based platform accessible from any web browser. For law firms onboarding multiple clients, the partner dashboard allows bulk setup and management.
What protections do whistleblowers receive under EU law?
Under Chapter VI of Directive 2019/1937, whistleblowers are protected against all forms of retaliation, including dismissal, demotion, intimidation, and discrimination (Articles 19–21). The burden of proof is reversed: if a whistleblower suffers detriment after reporting, the employer must prove the measures were unrelated to the report. Member states must also provide access to legal aid, interim relief, and full compensation. Report Securely supports these protections by ensuring reporter anonymity and providing a documented, auditable reporting process.
Can we customise the reporting channel with our branding?
Yes. Each organisation — or each law firm client — gets a reporting channel that can be customised with their logo, colours, and domain. This means employees see a familiar, trusted interface when submitting reports, which increases confidence in the channel. For law firms managing multiple clients, each client's reporting channel is independently branded.
How does Report Securely compare to competitors like SpeakUp or Sheltr?
Report Securely is purpose-built for law firms acting as external whistleblowing handlers — a model that most competitors do not support. Key differentiators include: the dual report type system (whistleblowing vs. feedback) with automatic routing to the appropriate handler, AI stylometric anonymisation, 28 European languages out of the box, and transparent pricing at €99/month with no per-report fees. The platform is operated by Skiwo AS from Oslo, Norway, with all data stored in the EEA.
Is Report Securely suitable for small organisations?
Yes. Report Securely is designed to be simple and affordable for organisations of all sizes. The EU Directive requires a whistleblowing channel for all organisations with 50 or more employees, and many national laws extend this to smaller entities. At €99/month with a 90-day free trial, Report Securely is accessible to small and medium-sized enterprises that need compliance without enterprise complexity or pricing.
